VRangeSync is a freeware File synchronization for Unix/Linux and Microsoft Windows. It is a command-line utility which copy and move data from one location to another on a storage device. It is a data migration, cloner, file replication and synchronization software. VRangeSync is able to provides four-ways sync. It aims to be your system 'Swiss Army knife', handling a wide variety of data security backup and administration tasks. It support resume of partial file transfer. It had the ability to 'move' files within 'Destination machine' which skip the hassle of transfer the same file again. It significantly reduces the costs and technical expertise required to manage data migration activities. Through automation, you can dramatically reduce administration time.

Its development was started in 2023 as a hobby project by developer during his freetime and released as freeware in 2024. It was written in Bash, C and various scripting technology.

The first freeware version (20240525) was released in 2024 under established company www.1range1.com. VRangesync operated on Unix/Linux operating system (x86_64). VRangesync (20240525) included support for remote transport such as ncat and ssh. During the development of (20240702) version the core architecture was expanded to support Microsoft Windows operating system.

VRangesync (20240702) version allows Microsoft Windows 10(and above) customers and developers to sync files and data with WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) installed.

VRangeSync is Unix/Linux certified system sync,clone,mover tool. It has become the de-facto system sync,clone,mover tool used by leading providers who are looking for increased security, stability and scalability.

VRangeSync is an independent and standalone software as it include with it's own toolpack. It do not require any additional software to be installed. It will works even if remote machine do not have VRangeSync installed.

What is 'intelligent' move for file copy?
It is 'smart' to move file rather than delete file. Traditional filecopier will need to delete file and 're-copy' same file to the new location again. It reduce the need to do any frequest 'write' and thus extend lifespan of the storage device's health.
'intelligent' move for file copy mean that algorithm calculate and 'move' files within 'Destination machine'. No need to transfer the same file again. If you move a file(vmk.vmk) from 'directory A' to 'directory B' on your machine; it will be 'smart' to move the file(vmk.vmk) within destination machine. It will not 'delete from directory A and start new file transfer to directory B' on remote machine). It save alot of administration time especially moving very large files.

It is 'smart' to copy file when it found an identical file on the same destination storage device. It save the trouble/hasle to copy from the source storage device , go through the 'middleman'(internet or cable) and transfer to the destination storage device. When you do a filecopy within the same storage device, it will definitely be faster since there is no overhead or additional medium involved to slow down the process. Traditional filecopier do not have such feature.
